Reshma belongs to a marginalized background, living in a small village in Guna district of Madhya Pradesh. She lives together with her parents and siblings and is the only earner in her family. Before joining DEF and becoming a SoochnaPrenuer she used to be a teacher in a primary school. Earned a little higher that the cost of second-class train fare from Delhi to Guna.
When she joined the SoochnaPrenuer program he was low on self-esteem, dis-hearted and clueless about what is happening in his life. DEF supported her by imparting digital skills of computer and internet, provided hardware to start her entrepreneurial journey.
With the digital center and MeraApp she helps people to avail benefit from the government entitlements. She says “These services have not only helped marginalized people to access their entitlements but also proved to be a regular source of income for me”.
After two years of implementation the results speak volumes; she can be seen busy during day, servicing people in need and disseminating relevant information around government entitlements using MeraApp. The additional income helped her family thrive and now is well taking care of the education of his siblings. She has also opened a small grocery shop for her father to provide him a life with dignity.
Today, her income has increased many folds, expectations form life has changed and now she feels a wanted member of her community. She is firmly grounded to earth, takes special care of people from marginzalied and vulnerable section of the society and gives her services free of charge to them.
