Pratap is a true inspiration for persons with disabilities and others. Once a school dropout now holds a Postgraduate degree in Computer Applications. It is his never giving attitude that pushed him to row in difficult waters. In addition to all the courage, his mother, being a visually impaired, always encouraged him to pursue his studies and build a career.
Situation hasn’t always been so motivating for him. When he was in class eight, he had to leave the education. Inaccessible schools’ infrastructure, poor hygiene condition, and non-appreciating staff were few highlighting barriers that stood in front of him like a stiff climb.
In the recent past, he had registered for a PWD certificate, and then one of our SoochnaPreneurs in her region advised she should enroll for a disability pension as well as scholarship scheme, which he did, submitting all necessary documentation at our SoochnaPreneur’s centre. Shortly afterwards, he began receiving monthly pension payments of Rs 1000 a month and scholarship of rupees 2500 per month, which was a huge relief for him and his family members.
He had previously faced financial difficulties when it came to paying his college fees and purchasing books, but he was no longer dependent on anyone and was able to continue with his higher education for a better future.
The amount is not a big amount, but it is a valuable assistance provided by the government to a needy individual, and Pratap is grateful.
With a small support of few IT hardware and training form DEF he started to run a proper digitally empowered center.
Today, he is earning a living for his family and using MeraApp he is disseminating information to the information drought places in his district.
